Jared was born in Traverse City, grew up in Flint and first came to Kalamazoo as a college student in 1969. Before graduating cum laude from Kalamazoo College with studies in Psychology and mathematics, he completed his senior thesis at Gryphon Place, a local crisis center. Jared's internship there became a learning experience that shaped his personality and changed his life. "I learned how to listen at Gryphon Place," he says. "And how to work creatively with others through mutual commitment."
Gryphon Place eventually hired Jared and put him in charge of their volunteer-staffed 24-hour Help-Line. As a trainer and administrator, he helped create a working atmosphere where acceptance, honesty, caring and creative problem solving were the norm. Today, as a successful real estate professional, Jared is using this same approach to meet the needs of local homeowners and their families.
